José Manuel Alonso - Improving access to government through better use of the Web

José Manuel works the W3C Electronic Administration line through the W3C Fellowship program. He is part of the CTIC Foundation. This new line of W3C seeks to underrstand the specific needs of governments and citizens in relation to Electronic Administration services, identifying risks for Web interoperability, establishing guides for more efficient government electronic services and coordinating actions that further the Consortion efforts in e-Government.

José Manuel joined the Spanish Office of the W3C as Technical Manager and is now Manager of the Spanish Office of the W3C.

He is also the representative for the CTIC Foundation (host of the Office) in the Consulting Comittee. Previously, he had worked in research and innovation departments in the University of Oviedo, Asturias, and in organizations and businesses as researcher, developer, analyst and facilitator. He collaborated in the creation of various platforms for distance learning and several projects of the Apache Software Foundation. His research and seminars have focused in web standards, usability and learning objects.
